Bans Home Car Washing and Promotes Water Recycling
According to a story broadcast
by KLAS in Las Vegas, the Southern Nevada Water Authority declared
a drought alert effective January 1, 2004. As a result home car
washing has been banned. Instead, drivers will have to take their
vehicles to a professional car wash that recycles water.
Southern Nevada has experienced
four years of drought and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.
Evidence of the severity of the drought can be observed at Hoover
Dam where water levels have significantly declined over the last
20 years. So the Southern Nevada Water Authority has implemented
tough water use restrictions to save what little water is left.
